With the introduction of Electric Vehicles to our current vehicle market, consumers and the automotive industry of rapidly changing and investing in making the change to provide efficient Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) to the UK market.
There have been some initial resistance consumers regarding the current miles per charge of the vehicles on offer and had subsequently fuelled the big issue of range anxiety.
BEV technology has come a long way from the early days of Ni-mh batteries and although still widley used on Hybrid Vehicles, Li-Ion technology has become the choice of modern Vehicles providing a greater energy capacity equalling greater range, however even with current batteries increasing Kilowatt hours capacity, for some consumers it’s just not enough range.
Moving forwards may see advances in solid state batteries with Toyota announcing a 1000km range battery with 20% reduction cost to hit the showrooms in 2025 and the likes of Audi making significant headway in greater range and quicker charging times the race is on to provide what people want and simply is higher range vehicles at a cheaper price.
